Philly Cheesesteak Pinwheel

This East-coast classic uses all the most glorious aspects of the traditional sandwich-style meal, like gooey white american cheese, sauteed peppers and onion, and thinly sliced philly steak. But, instead of stuffing these fixings between bread, place them on top of Idahoan® Tater Tumblers®. Roll this combo and fry the pinwheel for a crispy, crunchy, flavorful creation that is ready to make your guests drool.

  • 1 bag (32.9 ounces) Idahoan® SHREDS Tater Tumblers® Original Mix with Spices
  • 2 quarts hot water (Water should be between 180°F to 190°F)
  • 4½ pounds Philly steak (Fully cooked)
  • 2 pounds red & green bell peppers (Julienned)
  • 2 pounds yellow onion (Julienned)
  • 4½ pounds white American cheese
Instructions
  1. Place hot water into a large bowl, add the entire pouch of Tater Tumblers® while mixing to ensure there is no dry product visiable. Cover and refresh for 10 minutes.
  2. To assemble, lay out a strip of cling film on the table. Spray with non stick spray. Place 8-ounces of Tater Tumblers® onto the sprayed surface and press to form a rectangle. The Tater Tumblers® should be ½-inch thick.
  3. Place 4-ounces of the Philly steak meat in a thin layer on top of the Tater Tumblers®. Layer on 2-ounces each of the mixed peppers and onion to finish buildling. Lay out 4-ounces of the cheese on the long edge of the Tater Tumblers®. Using the cling film, roll the pinwheel. Once rolled, use the cling film to ensure that the roll is tight, and allow to set for at least 15 minutes prior to frying.
  4. To fry, place the pinwheel into the fryer and set at 375°F, fry until golden brown. Remove, drain, and slice. Serve with your choice of sauce.
